RE: 504 tire upgrade

After reviewing all of the discussion about tyres and who makes what and
how well, I finally bought some tyres for my 504, yesterday. I debated
with myself, Consumer Reports and the local shops, too. I chose the
Michelin X-1's for their longevity and wet weather driving. They won't
have the handling of a lower ranked tread wearing tyre, like the
Pirelli's that I was going to buy. The X-1's are 680 (I think, or
higher) opposed to Pirelli's P4000 at 240, and a much better warranty.
I can't find a shop to do the balancing, yet (my stock wheels have a
smaller hole and won't fit onto the balancing machine). But, in my
driving around to locate a shop that'll do it, everyone who looked at
the wheels, said that the tyres were well worth it and great one's to
have.
