I checked with the gentleman that disabled my variable power assist and
this is what I found out:
1) to disable variable power assist you cut wires # 14 AND # 15 on the
15 terminal connector located behind the passenger glove compartment.
(Wires 14 and 15 connect to pin # 14 and 15).
2) this will make your power assist permanent provided that the problem
you were having was " on again off again" variable power assist. On
the other hand, if you power assist system is completely dead (i.e., no
power assist at all at any speed) then this procedure is unlikely to
revive the power assist.
PS:
When you cut the wires be sure to leave room to reconnect them again
should you change your mind at a later date and would want to continue
with factory variable power assist.
Its worked for me and I hope it works for you.
good luck.
