I believe the "rev limiting" at low RPMs is due to a faulty throttle
microswitch. It didn't act like the rev limiter, but I think it's making a
poor connection on the inside causing the resistance to increase and limiting
fuel metering. hmm...restrictor plate Peugeot??? Here's the other problem
I've been experiencing, I race my pug on occasion and this is pretty
embarrassing when it happens. My boost gauge kisses the red at full boost (I
have a hose running from the line going into the electrovalve to the line
going into the manifold, the wastegate actuator adjustment is rusted up and
probably impossible to adjust). The problem is the car doesn't always like to
get to full boost. Sometimes it will only go between the last two white
graduations on the gauge - 0-60 in about 8-9 secs, others it will touch the
last white line and sometimes it will kiss the red and haul ass. This is very
irregular, it can stay one way for a long time or it can change from gear to
gear, but then it stays where it changes. I thought it might be a poor
connection to my electrovalve. I know the knock sensor knocks boost pressure
off when retarding the timing doesn't do the trick. My knock sensor is on the
engine mount (yes I plan to get it fixed, I'm not sure how to get to where it
needs to go and am hesitant about removing the intake runners since I don't
know the torque specs), I know when it knocks. The pressure coming out of the
exhaust isn't as strong as what comes out of the exhaust on my brother's car
and leads me to believe there might be an abundance of back-pressure. I didn't
think it was possible to have this intermittently, cats don't "unmelt" if
melted. Once again, I'm asking for any advice the users of this group can give
on this subject.
Thank you,
Alan
