505 variable idle and idling to stall

I'm still trying to figure out what's causing the problem with my 505 turbo's
sudden loss of power. The past couple days since I raised my boost pressure my
car sometimes will limit the RPM the engine will go to (sometimes 2 grand,
sometimes 3-4 and sometimes it hangs at 3 before increasing -- not the tach
sticking, I hear the engine stop at 3 for a second). It's not like a rev
limiter, it's like the engine is unable to produce the power to spin any
faster. This morning when I started it, it started and sputtered to a stop a
couple times until I held the gas. Then it responded horribly. I popped the
hood to play with with the connections while it was running and heard an
inconsistent idle. The engine would slowly speed up and slow down. I've heard
this is related to a slow responding O2 sensor. The only problem is that the
engine was cold. Has anyone experienced this problem??? Once the engine starts
and warms up it is quite peppy...sometimes.
Thanks in advance,
Alan
