ZF 4HP22

Some serious searching on the ZF 4 HP22 reveals that quite
a few BMW owners switched to Mobil1 and Redline synthetic
ATF and noticed an improvement. It is also said that BMW
started putting synthetic oil from the factory in the ZF 4HP22.
Yet, recently we had a message forwarded to the list where
ZF warned against synthetic.

I'm confused. Let's say that cost is not an object. Should I
go for it? Did anybody loose his transmission after switching
to synthetic? Did you flush it all or fill it out little by little
(several draining)?
