Alan and all. By all means change the oil. As a matter of fact, whenever
I have ever bought a used car, the first thing I did was change all the
fluids, filters, belts, and hoses. That way I always know what is in the
car.

I use 80W-90 GL5 in the rear of all my Pugs. My local auto parts store
carries a generic brand additive that I use. Never had a problem. Even in
my 70's muscle car.

I would like to piggyback Francois's question request some opinions.
I don't believe the previous owner ever changed the differential oil.
Should
I attempt to change it at 140,000 miles? I have been told that at that
mileage just to leave it, as newer oil could cause slipping problems. Is
this real or just an old-timers saying?
