RE: 505 Turbo: bottom bracket removal?

Francios. The book says to remove the two 6mm allen bolts from the bottom
of the turbo. GOOD LUCK. I have never had any luck there either. The
motor mount gets in the way of a good purchase with the allen wrench. I'm
told that Snap-on makes an extra long socket type allen.

What I've done is to disassemble the right motor mount. Not all that hard
really. A floor jack holding the engine, remove the bolts from the motor
mount and you have all the room you need. A bonus to this is you have
lots of room to get the turbo out of the car once disconnected.

You must undo the 4 6mm allens. 2 from the side and two from the bottom.
(The 2 13mm are not necessary to undo.)This is one of the trickiest part
of the job.
I use Allen tip swivel-socket(don`t remember if its cut down to minimize
the engagement angle)with a long extension and a long handle ratchet for
the 2 bolts from the bottom.
Then for the side bolts a cut down allen long or short arm, you can hook
a closed-end around the arm to gain more leverage but watch out with
your knuckles.
BY ALL MEANS AVOID ROUNDING OUT A BOLT, IF YOU SEE IT START TO SLIP
STOP.
The manual has a proceedure to mount the allens with v low torque at
first to align everything before tightening. This is very important.
Difficult steps are disconnecting AND reconnecting the oil supply line,
pulling the whole assembly out, there is not one extra millimeter.
Reassembly of the ex. man. gasket, flame rings, bushing, and manifold
all together( use sticky grease).
