Re: 505 N9T soft cam

Depending on the relation to the Chrysler-Simca 160/180/2 Litres and the
Murena 2.2/Tagora 2.2 the 505 N9T has the same probs as you could see in
1971:
An old Simca-dealer from Cologne told me years ago, that he never had
problems round the engine as long such a car ran as a Taxi and you had
replace the chassis after 400.ooo km. Very different to the Chrysler that
ran in hands of "grandfather", where he often had to overhaul the
cylindre-head or the cam.
The same appears in compare of the Talbot-Matra Murena 2.2 and the Talbot
Tagora 2.2 - same engines but a complete different charactre of drivers !
Although many Murena 2.2 were driven on synthetic-oil with timely made
oil-changes the owners had this prob with the cam !
The damages are mainly caused by short rides without the oil is possible to
get the right temperature. Also often seen is dust in the oil-pump with the
effect that the oil-circle was interrupted to the cylindre-head.
A real problem of the future will be the "near" of this N9T to Talbot and
not to Peugeot. Many engine-parts are gone also at Peugeot Germany since
longer time with no hope of reproduction :-/.
If anybody should be in need of a NEW N9T USA-engine - still have one ;-)
Cheers
