    Hi Sean,
    I wouldn't classify my mechanic in that category- I have known him for
    years and he is genuinely interested in keeping the 505 on the road.
    He is just looking at the space required, esp in the likely
    eventuality that one of the studs will break, and reckons that there
    just isn't enough room to work in to do the job correctly. And all the
    work he has done on the car so far has been top quality.
    He even mentioned this group and asked if you guys would have any tips
    or tricks.

    the job is fairly simple and easy to do
    in no way do you have to drop suspension either front or rear
    i think you have stumbled across the "oh it's imported this bloke
    doesn't know i can rip him off" routine
    if the nuts are rusted up too bad it is a simple job and would take
    anyone who is slightly mechanically minded about .5 to 1 hour to do
