Peugeot Re: 505 exhaust manifold gaskets

    When your mechanic says that the "front and rear suspension" needs to be
    released to do this manifold job, he may mean the front and rear hangars for
    the exhaust system. That may be necessary, but it seems to me that there
    should be a way to disconnect themanifold from the exhaust pipe. I'm a
    4-cylinder guy, so I don't have the dual manifold setup you have to deal
    with. On the 4-cyls, there is a flange with bolts at the manifold.
    Disconnected the manifold comes off with only a little difficulty, again
    assuming no rusty nuts. I almost bought a v6, but didn't look hard enough to
    know about the geometry for the exhaust system to be of more help.
