My mechanic is offering me some 14" Peugeot alloy wheels. (I want to
    use
them with a higher tire than the 15's I have on on my SW8 turbo which
    rides
too hard for a wagon to suit my wife.) I'm using a 14" wheels since I
understand that there may be clearance problems with a 15" wheel and a
    taller tire.

    1) As long as the circumference of the taller tire on the 14" wheel
    equals
the circumference of the old tire on the 15" wheel, will there be any
    problems?

    2) The mechanic, as a favor, will sand-blast the aluminum wheels
    since
    the
paint is peeling badly. Apparently at some point they were painted a
    flat
aluminum grey color. I don't know if they came that way from
    Peugeot....
(My other Peugeot turbo alloys don't seem to have any paint or
    coating
    on
    them.)

Question: don't these wheels have to have some kind of clear coating?
      Or
can they be painted with a good primer and flat grey metal paint?
    Or,
    best
of all, can I get away with them having no paint or coating at all
    once
    they're sandblasted?
