When I had my 1984td wagon and i had a coal stove I would haul a load home now
and then with that. I had to go across the scales so I know what it weighed, the
most I hauled was just over half a ton, car rode great, not quite as peppy maybe
but it didn't seem to mind the load. I lined the back with heavy plastic to keep
from getting it dirty. When I did some renovatoins on my shop I had to bring
home some drywall and insulation. I pulled a trailer loaded with drywall with
that same car. I think I figured the weight of the drywall alone was morethan
the weight of the car, around 4,000 pounds. It seemed to stop well enough. At
the time i had that car I didn't have a pickup but it served me as well as one
and got considerably better mileage than any pickup I have known.
