Well, I certainly must agree with Brian that Erikssons has been a very, very
responsible vendor. They are really easy to deal with and they sure stand
behind their product. They pay for the labor to take out and replace any of
their rebuilts under warranty. In my case, they even paid my mechanic the
labor beyond the period. Same with their rebuilt turbos, in my experience.
No complaints from me on any of that.
Nat Eriksson, in particular, is an extremely nice man and a good guy to do
business with. I'm no expert on any of this technical stuff, but he does
seem to be very knowledgeable indeed. I went down to his shop in Conn. and
he arranged, at no cost to me, to have Reynold's dealership in Old Lyme look
at the car to see whether the transmission was still a problem. (They
seemed very knowledgeable as well - and it was neat to see a lot of very
clean Peugeots on their lot. They must have sold a ton of them in that
area over the years. It seemed like I saw more clean and sharp Peugeots in
that town in one day than in Paris.)
Bottom line: The proof is, I went back to Eriksson's recently to have my
[engine] head rebuilt. I had been told by many, including Peugeot NA and
Brian, whom I trust implicitly, that their reputation is great re: heads.

That is a good price. What is the warranty like?
Erikssons have a 12mo parts and labor warranty, as well as the equipment to
test every 4hp22 before it goes out, and they are an authorised ZF
facility. I have dealt with them for 20 years and have encountered only
two problems: one cylinder head where the customer cross-threaded an
injector (they replaced the head with no hassle although it wasn't their
fault), and one 4hp22 which they also replaced promptly, including labor.
I haven't sold many of their transmissions, but their workmanship and
customer service are absolutely unique in my experience in the auto parts
remanufacturing world. Do you know of any other parts supplier that
reimburses for labor on their warranty?
As for Bob Ruggeri's problems, I haven't seen the car, but it is not clear
that the transmission is at fault now, and it seems possible that some of
the replacing of transmissions was done in an attempt to correct other
problems, which still exist.
I don't say any of this to fault George Bostics transmission shop, just to
try to balance a rather one-sided picture of Eriksson's work.
