Radio Problem Solved!!
I contacted PMA (800) 345-5549 (thanks John Crowe!) and told them I was a
Peugeot Owner and needed a radio code they took the radio SN that I provided
and in a few minutes returned with the correct code. Unfortunately it
exactly matched the code I had been using without success. The person then
asked what I had been doing and I answered that just entering the code and
getting a resulting beep with no action or change in radio status. His
immediate reply was to leave the ignition in the ACCESSORY position and the
radio turned ON for 1 hour and 10 minutes as this would clear the memory.
I did not ask any further questions, but tried this, and BINGO back in
business!! However I still like Mike Aube's solution of deep freezing the
radio!! That is now my second line of defense if this little problem should
re-arise.
As an addendum, to obtain the SN, the radio must be removed to read SN info
on the bottom of the unit. Removing the radio from this car is a 30 second
job requiring no tools! Just pull the plastic bezel off, can be done if you
have any fingernails left at all, and slide the radio out. No need to remove
knobs faceplates, or anything else. Must have been a joy for thieves when it
was worth stealing, but of course the code system was the deterrent.
Hope this info helps someone else someday.
