hi all. time for me to comment on the rebuilt 4hp service we offer here.
(the sunset coachmen) first off, thanks to brian o. on the kind words he
had for the service we provided him.
our transmissions are overhauled by a company called corey
transmission, here in charlotte, n.c. they are also known by the
nationally marketed name "coretran" for the line of remanufactured
torque converters they sell through wholesale transmission parts supply
stores throughout the country. their & our warranty for rebuilt
transmissions extends for six months or 6 thousand miles. that is to say
if there is a transmission failure or service problem with the
transmission we install in your car, labor, parts & towing are free for
    the period given above.
we do offer their rebuilt units for sale with a 6mo/6kmile warranty
also for mail order customers & shipping throughout the continetal u.s.
is pretty reasonable. since they are so heavy, they can't be shipped
u.p.s., however we have negotiated a reasonable rate with an air freight
carrier. the units are delivered to national air freight terminals & can
    be picked up there.
unfortunately, we don't offer a parts/labor warranty on mail order
transmission sales & have no plans to do so at this time. it is required
that you install a rebuilt torque converter & thoroughly flush the
transmission cooler in order for the mail order transmission to be
warranteed under most circumstances. we will provide the core
transmission necessary for the rebuild & under most circumstances will
require a core from you in return, depending on the scarcity or
    popularity of that particular application.
i have had only one service problem with the dozens of rebuilt
transmissions that we've sold or installed. that one failure was due to
inadequate cleaning of a really crudded up transmission cooler. some
clutch debris that was in the cooler came loose & got stuck in the
governer, causing an intermittent upshift malfunction. the problem was
rectified in short order though, with no charge to the customer.
     hope this helps.
